ITANAGAR, Apr 21: Tam Kadu, the Gram Panchayat member of Potte village died this afternoon following a fire accident. Kadu died as the fire spread while clearing his jhum field, according to a report received this evening. He left behind his wife and three children.
Teachers seek justice for late Dabi
ITANAGAR, Apr 21: Teachers of Ramle Banggo, East Siang met today in Lumpo to discuss future course of action following the death of their colleague Mathew Dabi while on election duty at Siine village. The teachers including ATA and APETA block units called on the authorities to nab the culprits involved as they concluded, based on circumstantial evidence, that Late Dabi was victim of anti social elements. The teachers constituted a committee to assist the family of late Dabi in seeking justice.
Fresh poll peaceful
DAPORIJO, Apr 21: Fresh poll in 9 polling stations under three Assembly constituencies in Upper Subansiri district concluded peacefully on April 19 last. Out of total 2122 voters, 1801 voters cast their votes taking the voting percentage for the 9 polling stations to 84.87% with 835 male and 966 female.
The 9 polling stations for the repoll/fresh poll were Jeke and Rikung under Daporijo assembly constituency, Baja, Don and Sodrik under Raga and Bator, Deranalo, New Riba and New Rilo under Dumporijo.
Meanwhile, all the EVMs have been deposited in the strong room at the Singik Hall and the room was sealed in the presence of all the candidates and political parties until the day of counting. DIPRO

Cyclonic storm lashes Upper Subansiri & East Siang
ITANAGAR, Apr 21: A cyclonic storm, which hit around 3.30 pm on Sunday caused havoc and large scale destruction in Murimugli, Nguri, Laa and Puchigeko areas of Upper Subansiri district, reports DIPRO from Daporijo.
An eyewitness recounts that the cyclonic wind accompanied by hailstone and rain destroyed houses, blew away the rooftops, water supply pipelines, damaged granaries, overturned the electric poles and also damages trees and bamboo plants within few minutes.
In Murimugli alone, 9 SPT/ Pucca houses were severely damaged by the cyclonic wind. While the cyclone completely damaged 10 katcha houses, 122 Katcha houses were severely damaged by the cyclonic wind. The cyclone also completely damaged 16 Katcha granaries while 49 Katcha granaries were badly damaged. As per preliminary estimation, properties worth rupees 3 crores and 28 lakh have been damaged. Public properties like the Government Middle School, Murimugli had a section of its roof blown off, 2 buildings of the Nyamlo collapsed and the church had its roof blown off.
An old lady of about 70 years, Yajen Mugli was injured when her house collapsed and she has been taken to the District Hospital, Daporijo. Narrating the horrific incident, her son Tate Mugli said that 5 of them were sitting inside the house when suddenly the cyclonic winds buffeted it and the house collapsed on its side trapping them inside. They had to crawl out of the wreckage sustaining minor injuries, while his mother was injured in her back and dislocated her ankle.
Shocked by nature’s fury, the people are somehow trying to rebuild their houses.
Deputy Commissioner Tahang Taggu and SP Anto Alphonse visited Murimugli to access the extent of damage to the area. DC Taggu assured to provide immediate relief at for the affected people. A committee to access the damage in the area, headed by SDO Hage Taka, DDMO Lobsang, APO(RE) Er. Tani Muri and CO (Puchigeko) Tanam Kyali visited Murimugi, where the most damage occurred. They inspected the damage and interacted with the villagers and PRI members.
The Nyish Elite Society, Upper Subansiri unit distributed relief material for the reconstruction of the houses of the people in Murimugli. Chairman NES (Upper Subansiri Unit) Jumni Ligu appealed to the State Government and District Administration to provide relief to for the affected people of the area, at the earliest. DIPRO
Our Correspondent adds from RUKSIN: Cyclonic storm lashed Bilat, Ruksin and Pasighat circles in East Siang and adjoining Jonai area of Assam leaving a trail of devastation yesterday evening.
The cyclone that lasted for about an hour uprooted trees, bamboo groves and damaged
several dwelling and farm houses incurring heavy losses to the affected people. The
cyclone swept through greater Mirem Bilat area and Saatmile, Gumin Nagar of Pasighat
circle and Rani village in Sille Oyan besides Kemi Jelom panchayat of bordering Assam.

A workshop belonging to Mahindra & Mahindra at Talom Rukbo Nagar off the Pasighat town was grounded and machineries were damaged. A newly built residential bungalow of one Mickel Pangging was also badly damaged as the strong wind blew away the roof of the house along with the wood frames.
The worst affected was Mirem village where many dwelling houses were damaged by falling tree branches and uprooted trees.
A policeman, who was proceeding riding on a motorcycle to Pasighat from Rani village, sustained injury when a broken branch fell on his head.
The national highway 52 between Rani and Pasighat was blocked by uprooted trees and debris dumped by the cyclone are yet to be cleared. The power department working on war footing to restore power supply by repairing the damaged poles and electric lines. However, complete restoration will take some times, departmental officials informed.
It is said that the properties lost and damaged in the cyclone is likely to cross several lakhs of rupees.
The cyclone also caused extensive damage to rubber garden and standing maize crop at Pasighat area inflicting heavy economic losses to the farmers.
Meanwhile, the Circle Officers of Bilat, Ruksin and Pasighat visited the affected areas and took stock of the situation. The local farmers have demanded the district administration to give necessary compensation and assistance to the affected families after properly assessing the extent of the damage for their quick rehabilitation.
Storm renders 17 families homeless
in Kurung Kumey
ITANAGAR, Apr 21: 17 families were rendered homeless when storm hit Pha village under Gangte Circle in Kurung Kumey district yesterday.
17 houses and many valuable properties were lost in the storm however no casualty was reported.

The incident of capsize happened when a big stone from the dozing site rolled over the bridge. The lone person who was crossing the bridge had to jump into the river and saved his life after sustaining injury. On hearing the incident, the West Siang Deputy Commissioner M K Sahoo and DDMO Nima Dorjee rushed to the spot today and took stock of the situation. The DC assured to take up the matter with PWD for early restoration of the bridge.
This is the second such incident of bridge collapse in this area. Few years back such bridge collapse incident took place at Paya village in which a school girl lost her life and several others injured. DIPRO
Visit by Indian youth delegation to China put off

"China's position on the boundary question between India and China is clear cut and consistent," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang told a media briefing here today, reiterating Beijing's claims over the northeastern state.
Qin's remarks came in response to a question about media reports that said China has asked India not to include any person from Arunachal Pradesh in this year's youth delegation which was expected to visit here next month.
The visit of a large Indian youth delegation, an annual feature between the two countries in recent years, has been put off, officials here told PTI.

"With regard to the visit by the Indian delegation to China, the two sides are in communication on specifics," Qin said adding that there is consensus among leaders of the two countries on enhancing exchanges of youth.
"We are happy to see that over recent years the youth exchanges between the two countries have maintained a sound momentum. It will play an important role in promoting friendship between the two countries. We should jointly create favourable conditions for the youth exchanges between the two countries," Qin said.
China in the past has issued stapled visas to the residents of Arunachal Pradesh which has been vehemently protested by India.
Last year, two Indian archers from the state were given visas on separate sheet of papers, leading to the cancellation of their visit. It also had a negative effect on an agreement on the liberalisation of the visa regime between the two countries. PTI
Female voters outnumber male insimultaneous polls
ITANAGAR, Apr 21: After compilation of all the polling data received from all the districts, the Nirvachan Bhawan today revealed that the female voters have outnumbered male electors in the recently concluded simultaneous Parliamentary and Assembly elections in the state.
In a statement today, the state nodal officer, Nirvachan Bhawan said that Arunachal Pradesh has recorded 76.96 per cent polling in the recently concluded Parliamentary Elections. With 79.16% voting by female electors, they have outnumbered the male electors (74.75%). In Arunachal West constituency, 73.39% voting was recorded with 75.35% female against 71.36% male. In Arunachal East constituency, it was 82.04% (84.83% female and 79.39% male). In eleven uncontested Assembly segments, it was lowest in Nacho at 56.25% and it was highest in Palin at 88.69%. In the General Elections 2009, the final voting recorded was 68.16%.
In 49 Assembly constituencies, where polling was held for Legislative Assembly, the voting percentage was 78.37% with 81.29% female and 75.50% male voting. Khonsa West (ST) with 90.63% voting topped the list, whereas Itanagar (ST) with 54.68% voting is at the bottom. Altogether four constituencies saw more than 90% voting. All but one AC witnessed more than 70% voting during this election. In 2009 Assembly elections, the final voting recorded was 79.50%.

MUNSHIPARA, Apr 21: The youth have a vital role to play in bringing a turnaround to regain the glory of Bharat, said Gandhian Dr SN Subba Rao, director of National Youth Project (NYP).
India lured wonderers and researchers since ages for its rich diverse culture, harmonious coexistence and hospitality while invaders plundered its wealth umpteen times but still it is a sleeping giant, he said.
Addressing 237 youths including 73 girls from 24 states attending the week-
India gained freedom but majority of Indians are still victims of poverty who have no love for the nation which underscores the role of the youth, he said with confidence.
He recalled the first people’s movement or Satyagraha inspired by Mahatma Gandhi in the independence movement started at Champaran district of Bihar and Kheda district of Gujarat in 1916 and 1918 respectively that ultimately spread all over the nation to attain freedom for India in 1947.
“Tens of thousands of landless labourers and poor farmers who were forced to grow indigo and other cash crops instead of the food crops were bought by the ruthless militias of the landlords, mostly British, at a throwaway price living them in penury. Poverty ignited the freedom movement led by Gandhiji.”

This camp, being conducted by Arunachal Pradesh NYP president HP Biswas, is the 7447th organised in series since 1992. A dozen of camps have been reorganized in Arunachal with the support of former chief minister, late Dorjee Khandu. The last camp supported by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and Agriculture Minister Setong Sena was hosted by Nampong under Jairampur subdivision of Changlang district in January 203 where 300 youths from 21 states had firsthand experience about the hospitable Arunachalees, their lifestyle sink with nature and rich cultural mosaic.
Nine young Arunachalee girls are attending the camp which would be conducted by Bhaiji, Biswas, NYP treasurer RC Gupta, dance director Narendra Wadgaokar, senior members Ajay Pandey and Dr CB Singh from Koshi Nagar.

At the very outset, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved
family of late Mr Mathew Dabi, a polling official who went missing on polling day
April 9 and was mysteriously found death on April 16 at Siine village under Boleng
circle. Not only the family has lost their sole bread-
This incident raises eyebrows over the conduct of concerned authorities responsible for the polling day and search operation. The bereaved family has every right to be dissatisfied and raise questions to the administration. The administration has displayed a sheer lack of urgency in handling the situation. The mystery death points to possibility of orchestrated murder.

Sisen villagers have better understanding of democracy
Dear Editor,
It is interesting to witness the new trend of electoral behavior displayed by the villagers of Sisen under Pangin Assembly constituency. Although these people are mostly poor, backward and uneducated, however, they have a better understanding of democracy at least in developmental sense. It is not that they stand against the democratic electoral process but they are against their corrupt leaders who have deprived them from every form of growth and development for many decades in the name of election. I think people should not waste their vote for lack of good choice by voting compulsorily for a candidate. Thus it calls for a robust 'NOTA' provision in near future. Their example is not a threat to healthy democracy rather it’s big 'No' to perverted democracy. In fact such example is an eye opener for people residing in towns and cities especially in our own capital where law has failed miserably. Lastly let the voters decide the fate of the political parties, instead of the parties deciding the voters' choices.

Dear Editor,
This is in reference to the expulsion order published in your daily on dated 17th April, 2014 by the President, Block Congress Committee, Yachuli against us. In this regard we would like to clarify that all the undersigned below, the former members of Indian National Congress had already resigned from various post's as well as active members of the party about which the same was published in the local media on earlier date. The reason for tendering of resignation was that neither President, BCC (I) Bengia Tadam nor party candidate Likha Saaya invited and initiated us to work for the interest of party. Even they had not issued any circular or notice for meeting to work unitedly to win assembly as well as western parliamentary seat of Lok Sabha. When there were no any responses from either of them or from the party authority, we voluntarily tendered our resignation from the Congress Party to protest our dissatisfaction with the functioning of the President, BCC (I) and INC party ticket holder of 16th Yachuli Assembly Constituency. They even didn't bother to entrust the party workers to campaign for Assembly and Parliamentary seats in the area. This itself is a clear proof of double standard practiced by BCC (I) President and Party Candidate to damage the image of Indian National Congress. In case Congress party loses in both assembly and parliament election in the 16th Yachuli Constituency, the entire responsibility should be bestowed to the President, BCC ( I ), Yachuli and Party candidate for which Bengia Tadam, President BCC(I), deserves early replacement and expulsion from party.
Hence, we the resigned members are of the view that expulsion order published in the media doesn't hold any ground but it was only done to tarnish our image to hide their own wrong doing of not activating the party worker at various levels. Further, we appeal President, APCC (I) to take necessary action for breach of party discipline against them for not campaigning for the INC MP candidate of Western Parliamentary Constituency and favouring Bharatiya Janata Party candidate in just concluded parliamentary election. To substantiate our allegation, the result of Yoglu and Yazali Panchayat segments to which Likha Saaya, INC candidate and Bengia Tadam's President BCC(I) belongs would be sufficient enough to establish our allegations and their acts of dualism on 16th May of 2014.
As such, it would be appropriate that an enquiry be initiated on early date against them to uphold the image of country's oldest party i.e. Indian National Congress Party in right and earnest means.

The tough stand taken by Youth Affairs Minister is appreciable and sure will send strong signal to China. It’s unfortunate that Arunachalee citizen often have to bore the brunt of Chinese action. In the past many sportsperson hailing from Arunachal could not travel to China to participate in international sporting event after they were issued stapled visa by Chinese authorities. Despite huge potential, India and China has not been able to do border trade through Arunachal. The border talk between two nations has been going on for last many years but no concrete result has come out. Both India and China need to exhibit some maturity to solve boundary dispute amicably. The two nuclear armed neighbours should avoid having tense standoff.
